Copying and duplicating items

Make a full copy of a process or other item – including everything inside it – to reuse as a starting point or hand a separate version to a colleague.

Copying makes a full, independent duplicate of an item. The copy belongs to you and can be changed without affecting the original – perfect for reusing a proven process as a template, or experimenting safely.

1. What a copy includes

  • The item and everything inside it (sub-folders, steps, and related parts) are duplicated, keeping the same structure.
  • The new copy is owned by you and lands in your workspace.
  • The original is untouched.

2. Copy an item

  1. Open or select the item.
  2. Choose Copy (or Duplicate).
  3. Automize creates the copy and opens it so you can rename and adjust it.

3. Copy to a colleague

If you want to give someone their own version rather than share yours, the share dialog can make a copy and transfer it to the recipient in one step. They get an independent copy they can edit freely, and your original stays with you.

4. Copy versus share versus transfer

  • Copy – two separate items afterwards; changes to one do not affect the other.
  • Share – one item, worked on together.
  • Transfer – one item, handed over to a new owner.
