Disabling an item switches it off without deleting it. The item stays in your workspace and keeps all its settings and history – it is simply inactive until you enable it again. This is the right tool when you want to pause something temporarily rather than remove it.
1. When to disable instead of delete
- Pause an automation while you investigate a problem, without losing it.
- Retire an old process or template so it stops appearing in everyday lists, but keep it for reference.
- Take something out of use during a freeze or maintenance window, then switch it back on.
If you want to remove an item for good (with a safety net to recover it), see Trash, restore and delete instead.
2. Disable an item
- Open the item.
- Choose Disable. The item is marked inactive and is hidden from normal lists.
A few things to note:
- Only the item's owner can enable or disable it.
- You cannot disable a locked item – unlock it first.
- Disabling does not delete anything; the item and its history are preserved.
3. Enable an item again
Open the disabled item and choose Enable. It becomes active immediately and returns to your normal lists.
