Transferring ownership hands an item – and its whole contents – over to someone else, so they become the new owner. It is the right tool when work changes hands: a colleague takes over a project, someone moves teams, or you are tidying up who owns what.
1. What gets transferred
Transferring an item moves the whole tree to the new owner, not just the top item:
- The item itself and every sub-folder and item beneath it move to the recipient.
- Automize places the transferred items in the equivalent folder in the recipient's workspace.
- If you were holding a lock on the item, it is handed over to the new owner too.
2. Transfer an item
- Open the item you want to hand over.
- Choose Transfer.
- Select the recipient. They must be a member of your company.
- Confirm. Ownership moves immediately.
You need to be the owner or an Admin on the item to transfer it.
3. Transfer versus sharing versus copying
- Transfer – gives the item away. You are no longer the owner afterwards.
- Share – keeps you as owner and lets others view, run or edit alongside you.
- Copy – leaves the original with you and gives the other person a separate copy to change freely.
