Trash, restore and delete

How deleting works in Automize – items move to Trash first so you can restore them, and how permanent deletion works for when something must be removed for good.

Deleting in Automize has a safety net. When you delete an item it is not destroyed straight away – it moves to the Trash, where you can restore it if you change your mind. Only a permanent delete removes it for good.

1. Delete an item (move to Trash)

  1. Select the item.
  2. Choose Delete. The item, and everything inside it, moves to the Trash together.

A few things to note:

  • You need write (Editor) access to delete an item.
  • You cannot delete a locked item – unlock it first.
  • Deleted items disappear from your normal lists but are not gone yet.

If you only want to switch something off temporarily, disabling it is usually a better choice than deleting.

2. Restore from Trash

Open the Trash, find the item, and choose Restore. The item – and everything that was deleted with it – comes back to your workspace exactly as it was, as a single set.

3. Permanent deletion

Permanent deletion (Delete forever) removes an item and its data completely. This cannot be undone. It happens in three ways:

  • Manually, from the Trash, when you choose Delete forever.
  • Automatically, when an item has been in the Trash for 30 days.
  • As part of a data-erasure request, where information must be removed for compliance.
