This article describes the RPA Vault functionality to rotate the encryption key.

Description

The Rotate encryption key function generates a new encryption key and re-encrypts all stored credentials with the new key. This enhances security by periodically changing the encryption key.


Setting it up

To use the Rotate encryption key function, follow these instructions:

Once on a process map:

  1. Navigate to the process where you would like to add the Rotate encryption key function
  2. Click on the green button’s drop-down (right side of the green button labelled “Process”)
  3. On the menu that appears, click on the “+ Activity” item
  4. From here you can select the VAULT Rotate encryption key option
  5. Click "Add" once you are done

This action does not require input parameters.

This action does not produce output variables.

Re-encryption failedOne or more credentials could not be re-encrypted with the new key

Tips

  • Run this function periodically for enhanced security
  • All credentials are automatically re-encrypted with the new key
